Two Hospitalized Following Fights At Riverhead Housing Center, Police Say

The assaults took place around 9:48 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 29, when Riverhead Police responded to the Community Housing Innovations, located at 624 Roanoke Ave., police said.

When officers arrived, one man was transported to Peconic BayMedical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp for treatment of a minor head injury, officers said.

While Riverhead officers were still on scene they were alerted by residence staff that a second fight was taking place in a second-floor bedroom, involving two men. 

When officers arrived in the room they found two men involved in a fight that resulted in one man, identified as James Meahan, age 39, receiving lacerations and puncture wounds, police said. 

Meahan was also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corp as well for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation resulted in the arrest of Nicholas Lobianco, age 35. He was charged with one count of assault.

Meahan was treated for what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries and kept in the hospital overnight for observation.
